I think the American people have helped enough. I agree with T. Money has been sent time and time. It's time the Katrina victims helped themselves. You can't keep helping when the majority of the people won't help themselves. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but get real.

What! America forgot Hurricane Katrina victims? Nah it;'s more like alot of Katrina victims moved on and got a life and stopped being dependent on America. There are only just a tad few who want to continue living off of America with a victim mentality. What about the victims from Hurricane Rita? What about the victims from Florida? Is becoming a victim a new social class in which they are supposed to be protected and taken care of all of their lives? I don't think so.

I don't believe the American people have forgotten, there are a few reasons money is probably not coming in:
1) I think the government and others that had some power have misused money already given and it causes concern when others want to give more.
2) A FEW who have received help and misused it have ruined it for others - painted a bad image with their actions.
3) Also the public hears about stars who help to give and think it's under control. People like Brad Pitt who want to rebuild with 'greener' technology - and they assume he's helping fund areas of rebuilding (mind you though, that's not funding the victims, just the areas)
4) My state has the highest unemployment rate of any state - we are desperate for jobs, resources for adults, and more. Noone is helping my state even though the government knows we are drowning in problems - we help each other and it's all we can afford in money or efforts...some people from my area went there to help when they could (and still do), but it's a financial decision for them to do so. When it comes to helping your immediate family or helping strangers - the family is going to win everytime.
I know the government can't afford to help everyone, but the whole crisis relief could have been handled differently. I hope ALL the areas affected get rebuilt and not just for those who can afford to move back, kwim? I just can't afford myself to help either with my time or my money...sorry :(

Well, I don't know for sure, but maybe all the money that the Katrina victims should be getting is going to fighting the war in Iraq.

NOLA was and still is below sea level in many places. It was not a matter of if it flooded but when. Two years later people still want to rebuild the city as big as ever for what so it can flood again? I had no problem with helping out the first time and that help includes relocating people to other areas but I will have a problem doing it the second time. Two years is enough time for people to either rebuilt or decide that their family needs to move to make life better for their family.

i've seen the damage done and i'm not sure that just forgetting it is the best idea.
there is so much devastation that it would take the GDP of the top 4 industrailized nations to put that pile of trash back to resembling a city.

I wouldn't give another dime to the so called "victims" of Katrina after knowing they used their federal money for gambling, strip clubs and other frivilous items.

Do you mean to tell me that people are STILL sitting around waiting for a govt. bailout from G. W. ? Hello! get off your lazy butts and get a job. That's the only way things will get better. God helps those who help themselves, Fema helps...?
