Are steering wheel covers dangerous, I flicked through the tv channels last night and briefly heard that they are dangerous.
I asked my friend about it he said fluffy ones can be dangerous - because if you need to swerve suddenly you may miss grip the cover.
But isn't that the same as wearing gloves that aren't leather ?
I really want a steering wheel cover, should I get a purple rubber one instead ?
Thanks, any help appretiated and best answer gets 10 points.

Steering wheels vary so much depending on the type and make of car you have. They, along with door locks, are an economy item on most cars and many are not thick enough for a decent grip. If you want to fit a cover, do so. I've had them for years and never had a problem although I've steered clear (forgive the pun) of fluffy types, option for tighter gripping rubber ones instead. These give a better grip that a smooth Bakelite type wheel, and give the thickness required, certainly by male hands. Purple's good colour too as it is not too ostentatious or distracting. I say 'Go For It'.

The leather or rubber ones are best. They have grip. Furry ones don't .
