Hello,

That is a very good score above average bot not yet genius.
IQ'S go to 200 but that high you'd be speaking a few languages, writing music and learning calculus at 9 or 10 years old. Here is agreat summation I found that is really helpful but brief and to the point:

There is negative feeback about this system as it does not measure a lot of artistic or musical abilities well and IQ's can fluctuate as much as 15 points because of nervousness when taking one that your life or career will depenf on, if you have a bad cold or mental stress from other problems be they finacial to domestic.

Which classic exam? WISC-III or SB-IV? These are completely different tests.

WISC :The top 3% of test-takers usually are 130+ and are "gifted," an then those at 145+ are thought of as "genius".

Is 127 a good score? You tell me.
What are you comparing it to? Why?
In the school district here, 127 is "bright average."
The district will tell you the only thing high IQ correlates with is school -to- grade success and school/grades do not translate into the "real world" as "success in life."

All your older standardized IQ tests used 100 as the average +-15 or 16 depending on the test. You're almost 2 standard deviations above average. That's pretty good, but remember that your score will fluctuate by as many as 10 points depending on the combination of your circumstances at test time, so it would be fairer to say that you have an IQ range between 117 and 137.

When people score 127 on an I.Q. test it doesn't mean that 127 is their I.Q. score. I.Q. tests have ceilings for each section of the test. If you have hit one or more ceilings then 127 is not necessarily your I.Q. It just means that you are not below 127. Psychologists who specialize in testing the gifted can often give you a feel for your true I.Q.

Related to this problem is the fact that I.Q. tests have a ceiling for the entire test. There once was a show hosted by Leeza Gibbons about I.Q. scores and a man in the audience got the highest score which was about 130. It was embarrassing because judging by his line of work, he was probably in the 140-160 range.

It is a good score.

IQ is over rated in my opinion.

The multiple choice tests are somewhat of a joke, although they can be broad indicators of intelligence. Real IQ tests take several sessions over a series of days with an experienced clinical psychologist. These tests are very subjective and based on the experience, but, usually are more accurate in predicting intelligence than a simple test.

Written tests require an understanding of the dialect of the language they are written in. For example, one regarded indicator of intelligence is vocabulary in a language.

Spelling is not an indicator of intelligence, especially spelling in English. There are too many language oriented rules and "broken" rules in spelling or grammar for that matter. Vocabulary, Grammar and Spelling and all educationally based.

As Michael Kelly pointed out generally the ability to speak multiple languages is regarded a sign of intelligence, although strictly speaking learning a language requires an education so speaking, reading or writing in multiple languages is not a sign of intelligence any more than any other educationally based knowledge.

When someone wants to compare IQ's I usually leave them in the dust, and I like being able to do that, BUT, I consider IQ's to be a waste of time pretty much.

You need one over 150 to get a MENSA card and even though I have the documentation needed to get one I would never bother.

You are you. Be happy with who you are.

Average is 100 so anything above that is higher than average. Genius is defined at 150 and the highest in the world is 215. My MENSA test came out at 132 which they described as 'Gifted'. 127 is pretty good. Well done.

127 is very good. Taking into consideration standard deviation, you're either high average to low genius. There is no upper limit to IQ scores, but scores above 180 are very rare indeed. Somebody once said that Leonardo da Vinci's IQ was 241. How they determined that after his death is beyond me.

This is quite good. In fact, in many schools this would be considered 'gifted' however, many schools have raised IQ scores to 130 range. Avg is 98-110...So ROCK ON, SMARTIE!
