They're scared. Not for the country, but for themselves. If she's elected President, all of their politics will become irrelevant, and they'll be a thing of the past.

I'm not a fan of Hillary Clinton, so please, don't think I 'm defending her with what I'm about to say. I'm also not voting for her, because I'm just visiting here from Germany.
I think it's not just Republicans, but Democrats as well. I'll tell you why.
Many countries in the world today have, or have had, women presidents, prime ministers, queens. In most continents and in both the industrialized and the developing worlds. From Denmark, Holland and England, to the Philippines, India, Chile and Nicaragua. The are many more nations, but I can't name them all.
The US has never had this experience. Many American don't feel comfortable with granting a woman so much power. A woman president who would preside not only over her own country, but over an empire. An empire at a time of crisis.
The US is highly conservative in its politics, and it only feels safe and at ease with a white male in the White House. So much so, that people in America can criticize a highly intelligent woman, a woman with political experience and a strong personality, while they have a president who is the very opposite of that description.
As I said before, I'm no fan of Mrs. Clinton.

Republicans are not obsessed. It's just that she is the most controversial candidate. First she is the wife of one of the most loved and yet most hated presidents of all time. She and her husband are an enigma. At the end of the Clinton era (known as the clinton dark years to those of us in the military at the time), both democrats and republicans were ready to move on. As time moved on, she became more and more polarizing. People either love her very much and worship her, or they hate her. She will most likely be the democratic candidate and has a strong likelihood to be the next president. That is the reason for her attention getting.

She has a history that is fact and not manufactured.
You must really be waring rose colored glasses not to have a single hint as to, the why, of the publics(not only Republicans) negative response to her.
I would consider that your word "obsession' translates more to be "deep concern for the country we love."
Example, those who were inspired to rise up and notify the congress they were unhappy with the recent immigration amnesty bill and the action failed.
This business with Hillary is not going to stop, so you might as well stop scratching your head.

I'm an Independent, not a Repub. I'm not obsessed with Hillary, I'm concerned about her and the proposals that she's making. I will use my freedom of speech to speak out against her. Those who remain silent, will pay the price.

Mr cookies, anyone If they have a ax to grind why write about it. Take what you read with a grain of salt. Because someone says something doesn't make it so. I'm a democrat and will not vote for hillary because I see nothing but problems with you republicans. I want something to get done these next 8 years I like Obama or Biden. We need to bridge the gap that you republicans have made.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with her, scared of what would become of the country I love if we are foolish enough to vote a socialist in to the big seat!
By the way she is a racist as well.(see link)

They've really demonized her to make a lot of people really afraid of her being President, I never saw her as any different than any other Democrat, she reminds me of John Kerry in some ways, in that she seems really mediocre and would do anything to win, she's nothing special.

I think they're building her up as a straw man, pretending they fear her, but knowing that with her negatives, she is probably the easiest candidate to defeat. I consider myself to be a Democrat, but I don't like Hillary.
