Far too many to count--peace seems to be a lovely ideal, and some places have enjoyed relatively long stretches of it, but there always seems to be a war going on somewhere.
Most of these wars are what one might refer to as civil wars (although there is certainly nothing polite about them) between two (or more) groups in a country. Others are international in scope.
This situation, I fear, has probably been in existence since the first humans grouped together, and has been going on ever since.

No one can answer that question. Human beings have had many thousands of wars even since history began to be recorded, and, of course, not all wars have been recorded.

I once heard that this ratio is true, so you do the math.
Since history began to be record there have been 7 years of war for every 1 of peace.
