First of all Hip-hop is a culture but it is slowing changing into something else. Music is horrible and I thought it was just dead for a year or two. People were dissin Jay and every started to listen to all the s hit about money, cars, franchise boyz, unk, and snappin s hit. This year many new artist came out with something different.

Even the way mostly everyone is dressing. With the bright *** shoes with 6-8 colors (Greedy Genius and Bapes) and the little chain.

I just wanted to know your opion.

Hip-Hop aint dead it just took a couple shots. -Game

Alright, dude. I'm 15 and white, but that doesn't mean I know what true hip hop is. My playlist consists of: Nas, Pac, BIG, Rakim, KRS-ONE, Gang Starr, Wu, Public, Big L, Em (before 2003), Jay (before '97), etc...Based on today'z standards, yeah Hip Hop is pretty close to dead, but put more into depth...hip hop has cancer. You can beat cancer, but it ain't easy. Today's artists making this wack "art" are the cancer elements, e.g. This is Why I'm Hot, Buy U a Drank, It'z Goin Down, Throw Some D'z, Party Like a Rockstar...god, I go on all day but I ain't gonna ramble...

The simplest thing I can say is that hip hop took a turn for the worst; back in the day hip hop was an emcee who expressed himself in what he was seeing. It slowly grew into the mainstream and now we hear this wack bullshit day in, day out, 24/7. So to quote Nas from his new album, who killed it? Well, there are many culprits to blame, and as many of you may believe that the South is what is killing hip hop, there's more to it than that. You need to think about what is controlling what we hear. Answer: white Corporate America. They are the ones who play this crap on the radio, BET, MTV, etc. every ****** day! You see, they won't sign artists that won't make any money for them; they sign artists who will, regardless of they have skillz or not. But put another way, they judge what the mainstream wants to hear. If a large number of people want a certain song to be played, they now have another hit to terrorize and pollute radios everywhere. So maybe the listeners killed hip hop, or at least the ones who think they're cool just cuz they listen to tha likes of Lil Wayne and 50, a couple of ***** *** p*****s who are only after money.

So, will it come back?? I think so, because there are only so many ways these people can talk about "throwin some d'z" or "walkin it out". Not to mention, record sales are down and the companies like Clear Channel are in deep trouble, so yeah just give this club sh!t a few more years and then we true hip hop fans could get what we've been waiting for for eleven years. One Love~

Hip Hop died the day Puff Daddy got big. Its been rotting away faster now that everyone one in the mainstream rap game has Lil in front of their name. Here's my rap name: Lil' IDon'tCareAboutYourWhackAss. Catchy huh?

It is up to us as listeners to be more discerning about the quality of hip hop we choose to buy into. There is no excuse talented MCs like Talib Kweli or Pharoae Monch getting passed over, while "Party Like a Rock Star" is on every channel. The art form is alive and well, but the "rap game" is wearing real thin on a lot of people who used to love her.

No, but sales are down 21% from last year.

They said the same thing about rock'n'roll. It's still here.

btw: I consider hip-hop to be a derivative of rock music, which came from the blues, so its almost "full circle". Run DMC and Aerosmith made them compatible.

As a trend-setting musical genre, it is long gone. It has gone from music from the streets to calculated moves decided in multi-national music industry boardrooms on the 60th Floor of an immense office tower.
