It may be worth nothing, but I m curious, I found it at a gas station.
It is a little smaller than a 50 cent piece, but it is about 1cm thick, it is a bronze/gold color with a picture or Juana De Asbaje on it, with his name under it, on the same side it says $1000. On the other side Is some kind of bird with a snake in its mouth and the words, Estados Unidos Mexicanos around the edge. If anyone has any ideas about it please let me know.
thank you

You have a KM# 536 it is a 1000 Peso coin made of aluminum-bronze, they were minted from 1988-1992. The monetary reform of 1992 was one new Peso = 1000 old Pesos, so over night your coin changed from 1000 to 1 Peso. The time to trade it in is long over and it is no longer legal tender. You can usually find them in a coin dealers world coin box for .10 to .25 cents each. As for the eagle and snake on the obverse, it is the emblem of Mexico due to a priest among the Indians saying, when you see an eagle and a snake on a cactus that is where you are to build a city. Today that city is Mexico city.

It now costs more to make a penny that it is worth. Soon - the new pennies - will look like the steel pennies in WW II. I love the huge silver dollar - it used to be the sign of a gambling trip to Reno - a long time ago - before they switched to those gaudy chip things. The delightful Susan B's - about the size of a quarter - how many times did I almost give out two (2) to buy a newspaper? ♥

if it is 1000 pesos, it is worth :

1,000.00 MXN = 90.9314 USD

Being a small coin, it's probably not 1000 pesos, but whatever the mexican eqivilent of cent is.

good suggestion to go on ebay and check, that way you can see pictures.

Alternately, take it to a coin shop.

If your telling the truth, it could be worth A.) Thousands of dollars B.) Be a piece of rubbish if it's common in mexico

My suggestion: Go on ebay, click coins or collectables, and type in that name, or just rare coins
