I hate doctors receptionists too, they are all miserable old bags and they always want to know whats wrong with you and nose into your personal business.
If I were you I would most definately get her/his name and write a letter of complaint to the surgery, specifically to your doctor or the doctor who owns the surgery.

Sounds like denise m goes to the same docs we go to lol coz 1 of our doctors was having an affair with a receptionist AND 1 of the Practise Nurses as well! No wonder no-one could get an appointment with him....he was too tired to see anyone!! Yes, we've had a few problems with the receptionists at times n they ask why the appointment is needed too. But getting a Home Visit is even worse! You have to speak to the receptionist, then the doctors secretary, then she decides if you really need a visit! Get yourselves a digital thermometer, folks, coz when you tell her you've got a temp. n they ask how you know it is very satisfying hearing the "Oh!" on the other end of the line!! Weekends are a definate no-no for a home visit tho coz we always get a locum from another practise who doesn't know the family history n they don't give the same medications that you know works for you! Most of the receptionists at ours are ok but there's always 1 tho isn't there!!!

I actually had a lawsuit against receptionists at a surgeons office for basically being discrimitory and rude. They refused to let my mom see the Dr because we forgot the medical card which is on the internet database so they could have looked it up and they were extremely nasty towards me ..
By the time they got the info they said we were late for the appointment and would MAYBE get a chance to see the Dr. We were there 40 minutes early!!!
I called my mothers other Dr. to tell him what was going on and he was calling the office cussing them out and is now testifying in court!
I have never been so pissed off in my life!

Tell the office manager AND the doctor. I have doctors in my family and they were unaware that the support staff was rude until PATIENTS told them so. If the receptionist acts nice in front of her boss, and is a nightmare behind his back - how is he supposed to know she's acting like that?? Tell the doctor, tell the office manager. If they act like you are the one with the problem, then find a new doctor. You deserve better.

They are normally just doing their job. They are not normally being difficult or rude on purpose, its normally the stress of
the job. Its not their fault that there are delays in the surgery or that patients are kept waiting etc.
They are just doing their job and trying to deal with difficult situations (although I know that doesn't give them the right to be rude).
You should complain to the practice manager if do have a complaint about them.

You should either report them to The Practise Manager or the Primary Care Trust.I must say things have improved a great deal.A few years ago my Mum crossed swords with one because when trying to make an appointment the receptionist asked her why she wanted to see the Dr,Mum replied "that is between the Dr and myself and doesn't concern you !" for a few times after that she made Mum's life a misery by not giving her appointments until we reported her what a difference then ! they used to fall over themselves to please when she went in.

Poor you! My doctor has the greatest receptionists.....they are joyful and treat us all like we are family. When I had to go from the office to be admitted into the hospital they all hugged me and wished me well and gave me words of encouragement. I feel sorry that your doctor hires the bad ones........talk to him about it. You don't have to be treated like that!!!!!

They are just there to p*ss you and every other patient off.Sometimes I just want to reach over the counter and smack them!
I refused to leave the surgery once until I had seen the practice manager.I made a complaint and miss misery is no longer there, although the rest are nearly as bad.
