When I call my friends cell phone it says "the PCS telephone number you are currently trying to reach is temperaroly out of service, message 146-3" Does this mean he canceled his service, or he just put it on hold. He is supposedly going to Egypt for vacation, but he told me he's going Aug. 5th

this only means that his/her phone bill was not paid. i have been there a lot with sprint. so they can not send or recieve calls until the bill is paid.

He may not yet have paid his fee. Normally if you are late paying, the connection gets cut off till the bill is paid.

he could be out of area but i think it means the phone is off

could be out of service. could be non payment of bills. could be lost or stolen ... many reason for that message.
