I am planning a new event, the Oak Ridge City Fair for June of 2008. I am new at this and have never planned an event or requested sponsorships. How can I ask for corporate sponsorships?

Why don't you call the main office and ask the receptionist to allow you speak to the Public Relations officer?

You have to think from the profit of the sponsor.

If you want a local bank to give you money, it has to be "worth it".

Promise them the world, say that it will lead to new clients, say that you are in the market for a new house and you'll definitely be their customer.

Also, tell them your event is going to be a raging success and their will be media their, it will generate lots of attention and blah blah blah.

Bring in information about tax considerations for charitable contributions.

They will pass this info to the person who says the OK.

Impress them, dress nice.

Send a thank you card, in the mail afterwards.

Also, if that doesnt work, use threats blackmail extortion kidnapping.
