im on a website called 43things.com...love to go on there...well i decided to make it a goal of mine to learn to walk in high heels...well i realized i didn't like it (even though i learned how to) and have decided i would rather wear my flip flops any day then suffer in heels...i got a response from some woman claiming that i should try wear skirts and dresses and heels more...so that i can feel better about myself and sto that MEN can appreciate more...i was furious...
here is one of her goals...
"Promote the more widespread wearing of skirts and dresses by girls and women
I believe that God, or nature (whichever you believe in) intends women and girls to wear skirts and dresses, not trousers/pants. Skirts and dresses flatter and emphasise the female body and character, whereas trousers/pants do not. Dressing in accordance with one’s gender shows respect for oneself and our loved ones and I’d like to offer encouragement and support to any female member"

OMG this is a serious ?. Woman have the choice of what they want to wear where I live. It is called free will. You don't need to dress up to feel good about yourself. That is a self esteem issue and help is needed there. If you feel good dressing up then go for it but as soon as you have to wear heels all day and keeping your legs crossed because of the skirts and dresses you will be back in the stone age where woman didn't count as human beings

I would absolutely hate wearing a dress and heels, partially because I have never worn heels. I'm your athletic type and I can't play basketball or tennis in heels. Sure, some women do, but other women don't like dresses. I don't wear dresses when I go to church. Not many women do. Most are in khakis. So, I'm not saying I personally would like to wear a dress all the time, but other women might want to.

Women are asked to conform to tradition. But in reality, dressing up (skirts, dresses, heels) involves high maintenace on the part of the woman. Plus, wearing heels often usually results to foot, ankle and knee injuries.

I'm a guy that crossdresses and I say emphatically NO !!! Wear what feels right to you. I do recommend that guys should wear skirts, especially if they are dating. It should be mandatory that a guy learns what it feels like to have to wear skirts, why not make it a dating ritual to signify he's dating someone...

I don't think a woman should be forced to wear skirts, dresses, or heels, but she should dress appropriately for the occasion. For example, If she is in a business environment where dress is not casual, she could wear a pant suit with flats.

Obviously you never gave any thought to people with disabilities that try to walk as best as they can and dress in jeans and t-shirts to be comfortable...
I could never walk in heals since my feet have nerve damage...
I have lost my sense of balance too and have to be careful how and where I walk...
I walk with a limp too, since my back surgery...
So NO, if there were a dress code or shoe code, I would either fight it or stay home...
I can't afford to "look good" for others benefits since I have my own problems with my health and am out of work...

Why should this question only pertain to women? Back in the olden olden days it was the men who wore the lavish robes, gowns, etc. Now; men think that is a sissy way to dress. Women and men should beable to dress according to what is comfortable for them to wear. Freedom of cloth!!!!

No. Men don't have to wear Suits, Ties, and dress shoes?
Of course if you know that where you work, they do, Then maybe that is a reason for the stringent code for females.
