It's by the Chiffons, I think, or the Crystals.

Edit: It's called the Da Doo Ron Ron Song, recorded by the Crystals, 1963. You can find the lyrics at this site:

Yes, an oldie. "Da Doo Ron Ron" was a 1963 hit single by The Crystals produced by Phil Spector in his Wall of Sound style. The song was written by Jeff Barry, Ellie Greenwich and Spector. According to Darlene Love, another of Spector's recording artists, the track was originally recorded by The Blossoms, with Love herself on lead vocal.
Phil Spector also produced "To Know him is to love him" by the Teddy Bears> He was one of the Teddy Bears.
BTW, Phil Spector is currently on trial for murder.

I think the song you're thinking of was originally sung by Neil Sedaka, then by Shaun Cassidy in the late 70's. The title is "Da Do Run Run".

Shaun Cassidy sang this song. I have the "album" somewhere. I can't remember the actual name of the song, sorry.

Okay, I think it's "I met him on a Sunday", by the Shirelles. Check out the lyrics of this song and see if it's the one you are thinking of.
