do for your country. How is it that the Democrats have changed so much in such a short time? They now think that the country should do as much as possible and that people should do as little as possible. The Democrats as a party have totally lost all sense of personal responsibility. Can someone please tell me how such a change can happen and why.

The Dems are the party of minorities and the poor, and they are constantly doing things to keep the support of these people, blacks, Latinos, gays, etc. They have been buying the votes of these groups for decades by increasing social programs for them, and by passing legislation favoring these groups, such as affirmative action, and busing to achieve integration. The Dems do not do what is best for their country, but what is best for the minority groups that support them.

Do we really want to continue affirmative action, busing to achieve integration and other social engineering policies forever? Now they are going to try to pass universal health care, although the cost would put the govt much deeper into debt. Their newest minority group is illegal aliens, they tried to pass legislation giving all the illegals in the US amnesty. They believe that when the illegals become legal, they will vote for Dems.

The Democrats haven't changed that much. Like much of the country, they have drifted away from liberal ideals toward centrist politics. On the other hand, due to pressure from fundamentalist Christians, the Republican party has drifted toward reactionary politics in order to appeal to the "conservative" wing. However both parties are led by essentially centrist leaders, and although there are elements that speak to the extremists on either side, the country is led by people that agree on at least 90% of the issues. The liberal and conservative labels are really just propaganda labels thrown at the other party like they were pejorative epithets. Neither party pays anything more than lip service to those labels.

It's all about power Janis...Politicians would love to take the public out of the electorial process...they would have it elected by committee, in other words those in office would choose who gets the nod...My impression of JFK's speech was to instill a national pride...not to get someone to trim the bushs at the white house...

You haven't a clue what you're talking about !!

FDR started in earnest the 'socialization' of gov't., seeing what the Great Depression and it's root cause did - (repubnut 'money changers') grabbing everything in sight with their riches, while the rest had to sub-exist thanks to them !!

Yep, the USA and the rest of the world went through it, yet the well-off were still so and MORESO !!

THEY - repubnut 'money changers' - would LOVE to see it again and are trying desperately to make it happen.

43 gave huge tax cuts to the rich and did it bare-faced !!
What's that all about ?? This feeble-minded man actually believes to this day that this policy is the right thing to do !!

OY !!!!!!!
