I have only seen short parts of it when I am at my Mother in-laws house.
I think it is degrading and the hosts mock at the poor people who are on there, they should be ashamed of themselfs, as should the girls, (the way they dress).

It's a cheap show. It claims to be helping the poor Filipinos but in the contrary the show gives these people a false idea of reality, false hopes. If they want to help, help the people help themselves and don't just give them money. As the saying goes, teach a man how to fish and he's set his whole life as opposed to giving man a fish which would be gone after a day. They should be given empowerment and not just a quick-fix.The masses squander their time lining up everyday just to be able to join the program. Some even do this instead of working!
It's just so sad that Wowowee is a quintissential program Filipinos watch daily. What on earth will anyone learn from it? Kids' aspirations nowadays is to be a dancer like those they see on the program! Isn't that just so disheartening? Nothing will happen to the country if Filipinos are engrossed with these nonsense shows.

Wowowee actually has a very nice agenda of helping people out. However, the show makes our poor Filipino kababayans rely on luck, and contests, or in other words, give aways, for a living. Yes, it has been showing inspiring stories and everything.. but still it encourages or somehow promote dependence of our poor and hopeless kababayans. "May wowowee naman, dun nalang muna tayo umasa."
Or something like that.
It may seem stupid and degrading, but never overestimate the heart of a poor and lazy Filipino.
And another thing.. their attempt to entertain sucks.
Lito Camo's songs make us all dumb. And overplaying makes us all dumber. Everyday, tambays and the jobless Pinoys who gets electricity through "jumper" and somehow acquired TVs would hear stupid senseless songs. This may create a "Boom Tarat Effect", similar to the Mozart Effect which says music affects the brain. Only in the opposite manner.
Stop it. Or at least change the format.

I watch it whenever I could.
It makes me feel I am still connected to my homeland even when far away.
It is a reflection of the nation I love. It shows Willy Revillame's finest hours, and his most trying times.
When it started, the Magandang Tanghali Bayan seemed to be teethering on the ropes, so to speak. Willy was the spark that was needed, and he provided it, along with Cat, Iya, and Janelle Jaimer. I forgot the full name of Cat, but I remember she had hard time speaking Tagalog. Next to Willy, Janelle was the heroine of the show, even going out and really speaking to the poor people, sometimes putting life and limb on the line.
But I'm digressing. You are asking for opinion, not relate what I remember.
As I said, it reflects the Philippines. Most of those who have spoken above me deride the show. Still, others love it, as I do. Perhaps, it is because I remember a man who had written a book of the Philippines, and who offered it to the world saying "I would do as what the ancients did. Present to the world the illness of my patient, by leaving him on the steps of the Temple, so that those who are coming out may
see him, and let them prescribe a cure."
Wowowee is the Philippines at its best and at its worst.

For me it is one of the cheapest show solely for sale to our O
FW Filipinos, imagine the show which is name wowowee, pertaining to one person(Willie Revillame) and the host of the show, which was recently was suspended by none other than MTRCB for one episode of the dancers loose their skirt or bra or something.
The Filipinos just like we always say are shallow when it comes to happines, it is like a kid just give him/her a candy he/she is already happy, not intellectually but physically only. I only watch wowowee, when there is nothing much to do or my wife is watching it, but for me practically I rather watch a cable program in the US or have a dvd movie from Hollywood than watching wowowee. Some may disagree with me saying ..."we love wowowee because of Willie..he is so handsome..." You have noted the last stanza, he is so hand.....never mind, is this an example of Filipino mentality? I am sorry I am a Filipino but I donot think that way.

Its a way of the local networks to get the get television ratings off the lower class. Give the lower class a show that gives them a chance to win money at any means and sadly people will watch. The target viewer is the lower class. That why we watch its like a car accident , we all want to see what happens.

It's a show that harps on people's poverty and uses it as an excuse to make them look like idiots on national television. I mean seriously, do they *have* to make them dance that way?
It's over-rated, and uses charity as an excuse for supposed entertainment, in the hopes of getting higher primetime ratings. In my opinion, if they really wanted to help poor people, they would donate to charity or educational facilities instead of taking advantage of the prevalent poverty and making a wild show out of it.

i think it's a disgrace to filipino people. i mean, i'm all for helping the poor, but this show makes a joke out of them. the people on this show are ridiculous and making a fool out of themselves on national television, but the thing is, the nation adores it.
and they need to get rid of that horrible dancing, the provocative moves and half naked girls. the little children all over the country copy what they do, and it's perfectly accepted there, when it should be frowned upon. MY FOUR YEAR OLD NEICE knows all their provocative dances, and people just watch her and clap like it's entertaining. it makes me sick.
