I recently found out that our wonderful babysitter has been an orphan since she was 14 years old. She has been out of the system and supporting herself since she was 18. She has a car, an apartment, and is attending the local community college but she is struggling to make ends meet. Are there any government programs? Are there any foundations? Scholarship programs? etc.... My husband and I have offered to take her in but she is an adult and wants to remain independent. Any ideas?
Thank you so much!!!!

She is an adult...if she wants your assistance, she will ask for it. It's very sweet of you to want to help her...but it sounds as if she wants to be as independent as she possibly can. She is a survivor..she'll be just fine.
