Because the Beeb is a lick spittle lackey of political correctness and the sainted Salman is an icon of the chattering morons in Broadcasting House.

I didnt realise the BBC had to stick to mainstream public agendas.

I don't personally like Salmon Rushdie or his books, but I will defend the rights of the BBC to publish them in spite of the fact it may upset a minority group who have no ethics or morals (and Im talking about the terrorists, not Muslims in general)

Don't worry about the BBC being a mouthpiece Look closer to home 'compare the reverence shown to the Muslim religion to Christianity and even atheism on the BBC, there is a distinct difference every now and then the BBC like to pretend it is not afraid.

what's going on?
Salman Rushdie is a skilfull and accomplished author, sounds to me that you are of the PC brigade or have been brainwashed by the whining minority of Muslims who have dickey fits when anything is said about their 7th century black fairy tale.
Mr Rushdie by the way is a Muslim himself. The book to be serialised is about India ! Is your problem that Muslims don't like his standpoint from the Satanic verses and you don't want to offend the poor mistreated misunderstood souls?
Makes me sick. Get yourself a copy of the Q'ran for bedtime reading, it should banish your insomnia !

Rushdies "Midnights Children" is considered THE book about Indian independence and the partition. Very relevant on this 60th Anniversary of those sad events.

Surely we are allowed to hear both sides of a religion.

This is not some white millitant we are taking about, this is a muslim man who is giving his views on his religion.

We hear plenty from the pc and liberal brigade of how we (the white population) have no right to even mention other faths.

Well it is not one of us, it is one of them that is doing the mentioning so let him get on with it.

You never know, the pc and liberal brigade may learn something.

have your read the book? it's very interesting. I really enjoyed it.

I think that it's a good stance. Religions need to understand that they do not control everything. We have a right to speak out against them.

And as far as a war....where have you been living? We ARE in the middle of a war. It's not political...it's religious.

How can the BBC sink to that level!
l should have thought
the mere thought of printing that garbage is crazy enough, never mind immortalizing it.

People will make up their own minds, to listen
or not to listen. I do not want to hear it so I
will not switch it on. We have freedom of speach in this country, and if that is taken from us, that will cause trouble.
