The Sabres shock everyone and with what everyone thought was a crappy team they actually are successful in the Playoffs. Suddenly people realize the co-captains were OVERRATED and that when you reach the playoffs it's different. The team of seemingly bad players turns out to be a great playoff team, although snuck in at 7th seed.
No I'm not a Sabres fan. No I don't believe any of that. However if you want to ask about Stanley Cup BEFORE the training camps even start I'll make up a story. Why not just ask what people's favorite team since that is the real responce of most people.

Well, t-rock, it's much too early for me to be comfortable with any predictions that I can make. I'd love to be able to say the Flyers but I don't begin to try until April.
That said, I'll give it a shot while disqualifying my favorite team. As of now, I'd say it will be Pittsburgh vs. Vancouver with the Canucks winning their first Stanley Cup.
I can't begin to tell you how uncomfortable it is for me to guess this early.

As much as I want to go with the first answer on here, Go Jackets!, I'd have to say the Red Wings or the Ducks. Or, any team from the Western Conference.
Although with Hitch as the coach, I feel the playoffs are a possibility for the Blue Jackets this year!

The Pittsburgh Penguins are my favorites to win the cup. They might be young, but they have quite a team there and I think with the quick elimination this year will give them just enough motivation to decide to stick around a little longer this year and go all the way.

i think we improved on our defense with signing scott hannan,we missed a punishing d man when foote left, and our offense can only get better with ryan smyth in front of the net doing deflections and distraction of goalies. budaj can only get better as the last month of last season he was the best around i see our avs going all the way but perhaps making it exciting in the final round. i'd rather see a 5 0r 6 game series to keep the avalanche motivated, because everyone saw what happened to ottawa last year after a long layover

Remember the name Stephen Price and the Habs will get their cup for this decade and keep the streak alive.
