There are cold spots, unusual smells and bumps and click sounds when no one else is around...and last week the kettle kept boiling by itself.

It's always a good idea to first check to see if there's anything physically that can be causing all the things that you mention. Prudence should always dictate. But after you've done that then it might be that there are spirits in your home.
Are you "haunted"? No, they're probably not haunting you personally. From your description it's more like the spirits have chosen this house to spend their time.
Eventually, all spirits will Transition, or Cross-Over. But some spirits choose not to go right away. Some spirits will remain in the home where they once lived, or died. Some spirits will choose to occupy a home that is similar to a home where they once lived.
Telling a spirit to "go to the light" can sometimes work, but if they didn't go the first time they might not be willing to go just because some stranger is telling them to go now. There are some rituals that you can perform or there are many psychic-mediums that offer Ghost Clearing on homes.

Well..... i suggest you read this carefully:
1. the places whixh are cold might be because enought sunlight cant reach it and if it smells means it might be dirty and well.... the clicking can be because of insects.
2. if the above no.1 is true then i the only thing i would fear is termintes (not silly old ghosts) because the termites might eat your house and it may collaspe so why dont u call a bug exterminator or buy some anti-bug spray and somehow kill the termites ortherwise the house will collaspe one day and this has killed many people in the world.
3. if no.1 and no. 2 isn't the problem then I think your house is haunted and there is nothing to worry about cos the old ghost must be the house's original owner and probably he/she just wants to live on in the house so just ignore it and soon you'll get used to it. (dont panic or get scared cos you'll only be making the ghost sad as youre' his/her guests.
4. If the ghost appears and shows itself to you then probably it's mischeviouse and want to throw you outta this house. When it scares you, you should try not to fear it because it feeds on the negative feelings of it's victim.
5. The ghost might me wanting to tell you something. ( the ghost might belong to a person who had been murdered and hidden somewhere in or near your house so why dont you do a little digging or call the police to check your house.

It would be a very difficult thing to say if you are being haunted or not for the place that you are living in can be haunted or it is even possible that some form of time portal could be present and a certain incident happen in the past in that place.... Now if you are the only one that can see these incidents then maybe you could be psychic in some manner and are sensitive to the going on's in a paranormal sense... Now if other can see these incidents then yes you are being haunted................................................................

Gas is so expensive these days...I'd love a kettle that boiled by itself, and would be willing to invite the ghost to dinner for that service. At what times would your ghost be free?

There is a spirit in your house. The smells and cold spots are a sign. How do you feel? I mean are you afraid? You could be picking up on her emotions. She was horribly abused. I get the feeling that this is a female who died in her early 20's. She died in child birth. She doesn't know that she is dead. I am sorry but I can't pick up on her name. Just tell her to go to the light.

Years ago I went to a lecture by a man who was a ghost investigator. In all of his investigations he never saw one ghost. That's because there aren't any. Sorry to break the news to you!
