I have a 1994 Ford Escort. If I come to a complete stop, and hit the gas pedal to hard, the car will just die. If I accelerate slowly, it works fine. What causes this?

First things first there cannot be any leaks in the air intake system. Mas Air flow sensor or Manifold air pressure sensor sensor hoses should be in good shape and not repaired with electrical tape or held with duct tape. Your 1.9 liter might also have a throttle sensor malfunction. First check for unmetered air entering the engine and repair those first. Look at the hose that has changed to chewing gum (softened) on the back side of the throttle chamber.

Wall, what occurred is particularly common. you're out of the "maximum suitable orbital direction that Saturn takes" so possibilities are high the jewellery have been given left in the back of. Now on the planet, accelerating from an intensive to status start up is frequent. in any different case it would be common to capture the undesirable adult men whilst they rob a monetary enterprise(if the vehicle broke down through acceleration.) Timing belt is wonderful for if it became not there's a decently good probability you would be hitting open valves that ought to be in whilst the piston comes up. which might supply up the engine ineffective from cranking over. i'm greater leaning greater probable to a ineffective gasoline pump. No gasoline=loss of existence of the engine. Why? on account that is a Saturn (once you experience the call ought to be Ur anus) maximum GM mechanics be conscious of what's incorrect with it. not the starter, not the battery, not the alternator,. the vehicle has specific uncomplicated flaws.

Sir, what you have is a very serious problem. It is dangerous on the street and on the highway to drive a car with this condition. You are begging for an accident. It would be different if it only dies at idle. Is the Check Engine light on? Does the car shake violently? Is there white or blue smoke coming out of the tailpipe ?

There's not enough fuel for heavy acceleration. If it was a carburetor vehicle, it'd be a problem with the accelerator pump. I presume it's a fuel injected car, so it will be a problem with the injection system which will require a session on the tune up analyser.

The engine chokes. It's like you would try to eat an entire pizza at a time, without slicing it. When you hit the gas pedal suddenly, the mixture air-gas contains too much gas, and the engine dies because needs air to burn that gas.
