Once you master an acoustic you can then more easily adapt to the other forms of guitar eg...semi acoustic & electric. Also I think it's the hottest instrument & appeal is a big part of being in a rock band if you want to go commercial that is. Although if you are in the whole indie scene acoustic would work even better!

Does the band play mainly ballads? If yes, then It's the best instrument if not there's really no point unless there are pauses in which no other instrument is playing. If hard rock it's very hard to hear an acoustic guitar.

Its very useful. It adds contrast to the sounds that are available. A great sounding acoustic guitar is special, and can add a lot to a band's sound.

it can add melody, mood, or atmosphere to even the heaviest songs and if used properly a song thats totally acoustic can be very heavy and emotional.

very..it can change the mood of your song. It adds diversity to the rest of your music, making you a musician who like to try different things and doesnt like fitting into one type of label.
