then how can I, as someone who isn't in the least bit afraid of homosexuals, but rather just morally oppose homosexuality, be a homophobe? Or is "homophobe" just a label that homosexuals and their supporters slap on anyone with an opposing point of view so that they can feel better about themselves?

Phred - A s*** stirrer is someone who says things purely for the enjoyment of reaction they get afterward. What I'm saying here is from the heart. I'm trying to provoke thought, perspective, etc; not hate.

Seeing that fear is based on ignorance and insecurity, I would think that homophobia is a kind of self-induced form of denial and stupidity - so your question is redundant.

Hate is hate.
Dress it up any way you like it - we can see through you.

I don't need to *feel better* about myself.
My self-esteem is quite high, thank you.
I don't seek your approval, I don't want to read your rantings and I don't care for your judgment. You have no effect on the quality of the relationships in my life and seeing that my homosexuality is an inate part of me, to *oppose* homosexuals is to deny the natural order of life.

We're here.
We're queer.
Get used to it.

*****The guy who asked this question, AmericanPatriot82, just sent me a private e-mail calling ME a PERVERT and just now has the F-U-C-K-I-N-G nerve to say that his beliefs come from his HEART!

Go phuck off!

Sir I'm not gay but even I know that the word homophobe means anyone that has a fear OR hate of homosexuals and homosexuality. So if you don't fear it but do hate it then you can still be called a homophobe. I think it would be more important for you to ask yourself why you care what other people have labeled you as.I mean really if it is just your opinion and you don't force it on others then it shouldn't matter to you in the least what they say.

The following is the defination of Homophobia (from Greek ὁμο homo(sexual), "same, equal" + φοβία (phobia), "fear", literally "fear of the equal") is the fear of, aversion to,(a feeling of repugnance toward something with a desire to avoid or turn from it ) or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals.[3][4] Several dictionaries also associate irrationality with this type of fear. It can also mean hatred, hostility, disapproval of, or prejudice towards homosexual people, sexual behavior, or cultures, and is generally used to insinuate bigotry.[5] Homophobic is the adjective form of this term used to describe the qualities of these characteristics while homophobe is the noun form given as a title to individuals with "homophobic" characteristics. Some people believe any usage of this term is controversial.
Because you are morally opposed to Homosexuals you have an aversion to them. This is why you are called a Homophobic.

You have the right to have a mind of your own. The fact that you morally appose homosexuality, shows that you have true Christian values, and you are not afraid to speak your mind No one has the right to put labels on you. People are so ignorant to think that just because you follow your beliefs, it makes you homophobic, or whatever they call it. Stand up for what you believe in, and don't worry what people say. You are not afraid of homosexuals, you just don't agree with them, and it is against your morals, so standing up for what you truly believe in just makes you a better person. No one has the right to judge you either, as I know that you know this, don't worry about what other people say, cuz they do just say it to make them feel better about themselves!!

gays, lesbians, people of different color, race, religion in short, people different to the "WM" stereotype always use and abuse the fear of labels inflicted in others, They are real smart, they know labeling someone like a homophobic, or racist is not the best deal for anybody.

They are the ones using the fearful terminology of racism to self-undermine their own value, to self inflict fears within themselves..just look at the lyrics of some so call songs, or hear them talk... and when someone else as ignorant as can be, uses those terms of hate , they feel offended!!! ..in other words, they have the choice to use or ignore the words of hate, and just keep walking on, being better persons each day.....but they chose to stop and fight. and throw it at your face.. .that makes them feel important...so it is a vicious cycle.....

I am a woman from a minority, I have been subject to some words and deeds of racism, but I chose not to pay attention...it does not do any good to me! and I am the most important person in my life, me and my family..that is all!

I don't have to like them. do I? and you are right, you don't have to accept it or embrace it, is their choosing or nature so let it be...................keep walking on.....you are ahead!

I find - as a quick answer - that:
"Afraid of homosexuals" - homophobic
"Morally opposed to homosexuality" - bigot

Now a morally opposed to homosexuality person who keeps it to himself might just have an odd set of values. But when said person begins to talk about it, the person becomes a bigot.

It's just a label they easily slap on us. They don't want to deal with the unnatural life they have chosen, and certainly don't want to be told anything adverse to their activities. It is also an easy way to sort of "brainwash" the younger generation to believe anyone who voices an opinion against the gay lifestyle, public displays such as the gay parades, or efforts to legalize gay-marriage is "racist" "bigoted" or "homophobic"

It is not unlike their efforts to equate their so-called "struggle to the vert valid black rights struggle. I certainly would not appreciate that were I a black man.

A homophobe is someone who cannot accept or tolerate gay people for no reason. We call people homophobes because there is no explanation for their dislike or disapproval of us. We know who we are, and no one should have a right to insult us because of our identities. If you insult someone like that, you deserve whatever you're branded as.

it quite is not trivial in case you reside in a house of taking part in cards as fundamentalist Christians do. The mere theory-approximately a gay engaging in himself with compassion and dignity would be adequate to jar unfastened a card. Homosexuals are meant to be degraded and unhappy, and fundies are too insecure to work out them in any incorrect way.

Morally opposed to homosexuality .. thats fine

Why do you feel the need to express your opinion to the very people who you are 'morally' opposed to? You're a shite stirrer and that is far worse than a homophobe, because honey a homophobe has a valid excuse and you dont
