run a spyware scan - recently installed toolbar's can mess up your address bar.

at the top of the page click on view then click on toolbars, now make sure address bar is ticked and you should find it has re -appeared.

Download a better browser, if the one you have is THAT inconvenient, then you're better off without it, get Firefox or Safari.
