this might sound trivial, but check to see if the power switch on the back of the computer is switched to 110 or 220 volts

in north america it should be on the 110 volt setting

Did you partition and format the hard drive? Do you have an OS installed? Try booting from a floppy. Your roms will not work if theres is no OS the drivers will not load check the jumpers on the hard drive if you have any device failure your system will not boot. Boot up on a windows98SE boot disk this will give you use of your roms. You can download a boot disk from bootdisk.com. (win98SEboot)

If you have a windows 98 Startup Disk, place it in your A Drive and start the computer.

When it has loaded the basic 98 files to the A:

Type fdisk /mbr and press enter

This creates the master boot record

Remove the startup disk and reboot.

If this does not work, you may have to reload the OS

Good Luck

Lots of stuff to check. Is the hard drive new. If not you have to remake the Master Boot Record. (fdisk/mbr) then reformat. That will erase your disk so make sure you want to do that

my guess is it may be a problem with your cd/dvd drive.....double check that the cables are connected properly and the bios is detecting it properly....just cos the drive opens when u press the button doesnt mean the bios has correctly detected it it just means the drive has power.

because wen u installed the cpu u must have damaged the pin or installed it incorrectly this causes the comp not to boot up
