Hey has anyone been watching the current meteor shower? It seems that the moon is in the way or at least makes it very hard to see. Has anyone had any luck. It's supposed to peak tonight and I wanted to know if it was worth watching.

You are correct that the Delta Aquarid meteor shower is occurring now, and you are also correct that the moon is ruining the show. Wait for the new moon and go out and look at the Perseids on the evening of Aug. 12-13.

The first web site below lists the 2007 meteor showers. The second, a great site, asks you to register (no hassle) and then lets you enter your nearest post office and shows you the sky for any date and time you choose.

There are some meteors visable right now because of the trend increasing towards a maximum activity around Aug 10-15. After Aug 15 the trend will taper off, back to minimal activity. It is sort of like the Earth is entering the fringe of a cloud of meteors, will be smack in the middle in Mid August, and then be coming out of the cloud of debris. That is only my way of understanding what is happening, not necessarily the most scientific description of events.
