on a calculator, punch .22 * 27

in real life, 10% of 27 is 2.70

1% of 27 is .27

2.70 + 2.70 + .27 + .27

you just need to move the decimal once for each 10 percent, and twice for each 1 percent

I find the easiest way to do it is to 'cross-multpily.' So you need 22% of $27
100% is $27
22% is $27 x 22/100 - The answer is £5.94
Multiply the amount by the percentage and then divide by 100 and you can do this on the calculator too. Type in 27 x 22% (thats 27 multiplied by 22 then hit the % key)

find the amount when the base and percent are known.

Amount = base x percent

Convert 22% to decimal

Remove the % symbol. Divide 22 by 100

22 / 100 = 0.22

Multiply 27.00 times the decimal

25.00 x 0.22 = 5.94

$ 5.94 is 22% of $ 27:00

Calculator:
27*.22= 5.94
therefor 5.94 is the 22% of 27

Manually:
Convert 22% too decimal notation .22
then multiply it by 27 because according to the formula percentage= base * rate (in decimal form)
27*.22= 5.94

If you say $500 is 15% less than the original price then $500 is 85% and 100% is as you say %588.25. That is 500 x 100/85
