I think that rather then giving advice its more effective to just be there. If they ask what you think give them your honest oppinion but ......be aware that this could bite you in the butt if you dont say what they want. So im back to saying .....just be there for them guide them into their own decision. After all in the end thier going to do what they want, so if you lay low on the advice giving and be there no matter what they will apprecieate you as a friend more. Good luck, i know how fustrating it can be when u know whats in a friends best intrest but you dont want to or cant get through to them.

I would never advise a friend to give up on anything that I know hasn't given them the struggle to give up on it in the first place. I believe that struggle is good for many reasons. Giving up however is not good unless it is something that you have no power over to begin with.
