Truthfully I've only ever eaten one twinkie in my entire life (they come in a twin pack, the other we blew up in the microwave and ended up haveing to evacuate a wing of my school because it smelled sooo bad) and I never eat mcdonalds, burger king, ect. and I know many people who are the same. why is it assumed that all Americans are fat? It's true that a good portion is but what about the rest of us? Isn't the UK the second fattest nation on earth, and only by a slim margin?

A twinkie is a yellow creme (supposedly) filled snack cake. They're filled with all sorts of additives and I've heard that if left in the package they'll never go bad. here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twinkie

mitchell: I was microwaving a twinkie as an experiment in one of my classes. In other words we were bored and it was a free period and someone had a twinkie.

I do not know what a twinkle is but it sounds rather rude, I think the thought about hamburgers are due to intensive advertising campaigns. No by no means not all Americans fat, it is just that a lot of films give that impression We all like to pigeon hole and it only needs a few people to confirm a stereotype

First of all, why were you microwaving a twinkie?? Second, because the American McDonald's portions are so grotesquely large that one would only assume that the average American who is eating this slop is obese. If you go to any other country in the world to order a "Big Mac" (besides Canada, the fat little brother) It is usually half of the size at LEAST.

In Australia in the movies and the media Americans are portrayed as Twinkie and hamburger eating fat slobs. Its like tourists expect to see kangaroos on the streets of Sydney. Most intelligent people would know that either one of those things are not true.

It's mostly the people who don't have much or actual experience with America and the people who live there. Some just do that for no reason, but to piss you off. They find it to be funny.Plus, when you defend yourself, they counter that with acute blame on you as if every American puts down their culture.I don't hate or ignorantly make fun of other cultures,I only get attacked by a bunch of idiotic outsiders who love to waste their time ignorantly dissing my culture.
Sometimes I wish they will vanish, because I'm tired of it.I'm never the way they describe me!
The world wide media and Bush is to blame for the attacks,he gives America a bad image and Jerry Springer makes it even worse.

The same reason people think every british person goes to the chippy for fish & chips.

On TV in american sitcoms they are always eating Twinkies (i have no clue what it is but they've said it like 1000 times in recess) or going to diners to have hamburgers. blame the media

I don't even know what a Twinkie is!!
We only assume most of you eat hamburgers because you brought McDonalds to our country. I expect you have us all labelled as fish&chip eaters and tea drinkers!!

For the same reason that we think that French people only eat snails and frogs, or that people from the UK eat nothing but organ meat. :P People like to pidgeon-hole.

Aren't Americans just metaphorical hamburgers anyway? Adding to that with their sickly sweet "Have a nice Day", they might as well be twinkies too.
