20 20 team is going to have a new captain. The trinity of Indian batting is going to be missing. Do we need someone like Dhoni, Yuvraj who are not know for their leadership skills to be the captain of this team or do we need someone with proven leadership skills like Mohammed Kaif to be the captian of this team.
Sample this,
1. He was the captian of the only under 19 world cup winning squad. He was vice captain of the only under 15 team which won the championship.
2. He was the captain of the UP team that lifted the Ranji Trophy last season. He is still the current captian of UP.
3. He was the captian of the India Seniors team in 2005 season of the Challenger trophy which included names like Sachin, etc.
4. He is the currect Zonal team captain
5. He is the captain of the A team to Zimbabwe and Kenya. The first game of which we won by huge margin. His contribution with the bat was also pretty good.
6. He is unfazzed by assuming the additional leadership role.

His talent must be nurtured. We risk loosing someone with great leadership potential so that some of the great players in terms of records but not of significance to India in terms of Championship wins may retire with records that no one will ever break but with of little use of to India.

Well I would never think of Md Kaif as:
a) Recently he's been out of the squad and has played his last match long back
b) He hasn't played an international 20/20 match
Comign back to your comments:
~)"Do we need someone with proven .... "
Md Kaif might have earlier experience but is OUT-OF-FORM
Your pts:
1) Being captian of U-19 is completely diff frm national side.
2) UP Team played v/s other teams (karnataka, tn, etc). But in the 20/20 Cs, they'll face big guns like Aussies, etc.
3) 2005 - That's 2 yrs back. Long back
4) same as 2
5) His performenace can be noted after this performance. But it depends on selectors
6) no comments
But i feel Yuvi/Dhoni shoudl be the captain. Well you forgot about Virender Sehwag, who also captained just matches before.

its too early to decide now because he should regain his place in the team first and more over he should learn to make right decisions on the field. A captain should be someone who is really experienced.Mohammad kaif is not suitable for the Indian captain in 20-20 world cup. cricket requires aggressiveness which he doesn't have. No doubt he is a good player. let him get experienced for two or more years for the Captaincy.

First of all, we are not sure Kaif is suited for 20-20 cricket,he is not a aggressive batsman nor a hitter. With no bowling skills too, he can add very less value to the team in 2020 cricket except for his fielding. He is more suited for Test cricket or ODIs and should be considered for it.
Shewag could ideally lead the team for the tournament,This would also boost his confidence and pave a way for his return to national side in longer formats.

Mohammad kaif is not suitable for 20-20 captaincy.20-20 cricket requires aggressiveness which md. kaif doesnt have. No doubt he is a good player, but too slow for 20-20.He needs time to settle on the pitch.
We need a player at 20-20 who is aggressive-someone like dhoni or yuvraj.

Mohammed Kaif is a good choice. He has experience as a captain at domestic level. He is a good batsman and a fielder. He can lead by example in the field.

I think Yuvraj Singh will serve better than anyone because he has the aggression power and much more to deliver the knock out punch required in 20-20.

YOU are biased. What is his recent performance in one day cricket? What is his strike rate and average in one day cricket?Don't you have better players? 20/20 requires all round players with good strike rate. If Kaif fits this then definitely he can be a good captain. But just because a good captain, you can not get a place in the team. Remember the fate of Ganguly.

Though Mohd.Kaif will be a good choice for captaincy, since his place in the team is not certain, he will not be considered for captaincy for Twenty/20 Championship. The choice will be between Yuvaraj Singh and Dhoni.
