It depends on how far you take the nationalism. If taken to Nazi-like proportions, nationalism COULD mean the native race in that country. But nationalism mostly means having fierce pride in ones country, not in ones race, although they may intersect. For example, many people pride themselves on America being a "melting-pot" for all nationalities, and they would be more sympathetic to other races. However, some Americans think that they are special because they are Americans and they don't want immigration, which is stupid in my opinion, because America relies too heavily on immigrants, yes, even illegal ones, to do away with immigration entirely.
Edit-Oh. Prejudice? Like against other countries? Sure, that is what it is all about. "My country is better than your country, so there!" Very childish, actually. People can't help where they are born, so people should not hold place of birth against each other. It makes no difference, just like eye or hair color.

Your question reminds me of Richard Aldington who once said "Nationalism is a silly c.ock crowing on its own dunghill." I am not certain if it always begets racism but I would agree nationalists may have a stronger tendency as they possess a sense of chauvinism solely based on what they belong to.

Yes, I believe that very strongly.
It's better to love the whole world than it is to love one's own country. It's better to love humanity itself than it is to love one's own race. Extreme patriotism can lead to war and often does. Extreme love for one's one race, religion or political views can lead to oppression of others who are different.
