I've been on bedrest for the last two months but I still get up to go see the doctor, shower, get something to eat etc. Today as I barely stepped out from talking with my perinatal doctor, I got a sharp pain on the right side of my groin, right below my belly. Every time I take a step with my right leg it hurts badly. I know it's not the baby because at my visit I had an ultrasound of baby and cervix and everything is okay. Can you pull a muscle in that area just from sitting the wrong way when you are pregnant. I'm not sure if I should see a doctor or see if it goes away.

Thanks ladies for your responses, I was very worried but it felt much much better the next day. Thank God. I was just sitting and took a few steps when this pain began so it was the strangest thing.

That happens to me occasionally too. Im 38 weeks along now, and it has happened for the past couple months. I'll only get it every couple of weeks or so, and it will last only a short while each time - but you're right, when you step with the leg on the corresponding side, it just kills! My OB told me it was round ligament pain and it's just stretching - but you can call your OB nurse just to be sure - never hurts to call! That's what they're there for!!!

I am 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child and I get this pain a lot!!! It can be a couple things... ligaments stretching, the muscles preparing for childbirth, the bones opening, etc. It is normal, but you should feel free to ask your dr about any pains you have. Mine come and go, but seem to be brought on by sitting or laying in one position for too long, or trying to roll over without suporting my belly. You can buy belly bands that go under your belly and around your lower back, they lift the belly, putting less pressure on your ligaments, muscles, etc. You can help these ligaments, muscles, and bones open and stretch less painfully by sitting on a birthing ball (exercise ball) and rocking in circles. Since you are on bed rest, you will need to get approval from your dr to do this. You would want your knees to be at 90 degree angles as well as your hips. Then rock in circles or bounce slightly. These movements help your body prepare for childbirth and can lessen the pain of stretching. Good Luck!!!

I had similar pains and the dr basically said it was growing pains as the muscles and skin adjust to the pregnancy. Being on bedrest seems to make the muscles ache. I wouldn't worry, i know it hurts but it should pass. And yes your muscles are easy to pull while pregnant, more so than normal.

I had pains like this in my last pregnancy. Once so badly, I yelped loudly in a grocery store. Some poor guy near me thought I was in labor! My doctor said that they were normal, but I would definitely still check with your doctor about these pains. I wasn't on bed rest, but had these pains regularly during the last 2 months. It could be your ligaments stretching. Best wishes for you!

It very well could be normal.
Being on bed rest can be awful as it does not allow you to get the exercise that your body needs, to stay limber and flexible. I hope you are able to come off bed rest soon with the very best outcome. I know I hated being in bed while I was pregnant. If you need someone to chat with let me know. I have been where you are.
God Bless you!

It happens to me alot, both with this pregnancy and my last. It happens most if I get up from sitting down for a while. I think it may just be from the weight of the baby.

It's probably your hips spreading preparing for child birth.... mention it at your next appointment, but don't be overly alarmed right now unless you experience bleeding or contractions with it.
