NEW YORK (AP) - Liberal activists are stepping up their campaign against Fox News Channel by pressuring advertisers not to patronize the network.
MoveOn.org, the Campaign for America's Future and liberal blogs like DailyKos.com are asking thousands of supporters to monitor who is advertising on the network. Once a database is gathered, an organized phone-calling campaign will begin, said Jim Gilliam, vice president of media strategy for Brave New Films, a company that has made anti-Fox videos.

The groups have successfully pressured Democratic presidential candidates not to appear at any debate sponsored by Fox, and are also trying to get Home Depot Inc. to stop advertising there.

If it wasn't for talk radio I would have never heard about the Hillary quote in the link below. So yes that is exactly why, no way ABC,NBC,CBS,MS-NBC, or CNN are going to tell you about this quote and many more like it!

While I support Free speech, I don't think I care about this.

As far as I can tell, Fox News and Talk Radio are nothing more than Lowest Common Denominator news sources which aren't really even reliable.

And, if the liberals like MoveOn.org and DailyKos.com are out of step with the rest of America, then I'm sure other companies will come in and buy advertising.

Ahhh... the "Fairness Doctrine"... Is this going to be our new 'wedge issue'? You know, one of those issues that each party gets to parade out for fundraisers and election time to remind us how 'fortunate' we are to have this or that party representing 'our interests'.

I'm a Libertarian (1/2 Liberal) and I think it's a joke! It comes nowhere near addressing the true unfairness of the public airwaves. The real unfairness is the way that everyone, FCC especially, was 'asleep at the wheel' while a handful of conglomerates bought up the mass media. The whole idea there was that would bring 'fair and balanced' viewpoints, what we got is 'homogenized' viewpoints instead.

Your right-wing talk radio and my left-wing NPR stand out from that? Your FOX news and my Democracy Now! news stand out from that? Damn right they do, and good on us that they do!! Please, do not let the "fairness doctrine" unfairly stifle and homogenize us then. Don't buy into the politically charged arguments because they'll just divide and conquer us. If that happens, we ALL lose. That's my liberal opinion!

No one is trying to silence Fox news--they're just trying to bring attention to the fact that it is not really a news channel but a propaganda arm of the White House.

You know, Auntie, it may be time for you to come out of the closet. And when you do, come to the light and step out of the darkness. Repent! Admit you're a guy and then admit you've been driven by bitterness and resentment ever since that kid stole your lunch money in the third grade.

Listen , here's the honest truth. Fox News is clearly spun to the right, CNN is clearly spun to the left. Neither one usually "lies" outright, but it's rarely the unfettered truth that the end consumer receives. You want real fair and balanced? Watch both stations, and take everything either pundit tells you with a grain of salt.

I think the reason is actually the appalling quantity of Americans who mindlessly follow and believe everything they hear on Fox News.

Regardless, censorship is evil and Fox News has every right to attempt to run a television business and say whatever they like.

In turn, the "liberals" have every right to use their funds to get their message out in the media and denounce Fox News.

As long as the government stays out of it and nobody results to physical violence, then the market will judge if Fox News stays in business or not.

is this any different from the neocon movement to harass wal-mart, target, and other retailers who don't conform to the right-wing mandatory Christmas greeting policy? no, we don't want to silence fox or conservative radiobabble, except for the extreme "even michael moore is too conservative" fringe...some people feel that it's important to put their money where their politics lie...it's a free country- don't put much stock in boycotts, myself, since it usually ends up hurting working folks who don't make the decisions-but as for trying to silence faux news("we distort, you fall for it") and the screeching right-wing radio offendistas? heck, no! they just highlight the fact that education is important!

I remember history talking about Joseph Goebbles being the nazi propagandist. This is the same thing, only we have an entire news network to do it instead of one man.

Foxattacks.com reports on the Faux news war on Bloggers.
Truly the Pen is mightier than the Sword (which is why the rabid right is all a-twitter)- esp. with their much lower educational standards.

Everybody has an agenda. And they are free to promote it any way they can. I think Fox sucks and I don't watch it.
