Since we have a Cornell graduate who happens to be a metallurgist in town who ones a company who has a power coating business I'll drop you a few lines of warnings he said about power coating: It's important that the base metal is metallurgic-ally clean. Metals such chromolly used in street rod and sprint car frame rails is considered a clean metal. Aluminum oxide beading, acid cleaning and power coating stick well. Metals such as CRS ( cold rolled steel) tubing and HRS hot rolled steel are considered dirty metals as well as aluminum. The moral of the story is you "can" power coat anything. The quality and life of a great job may be very suspect if the coating is applied to "dirty metals". Bu dirty I don't mean clean to look at but the inevitable trash - metallurgically that's part of HRS or CRS exhaust pipe tubing.

No...

Powdercoating is applyed with a electrostatic gun and then baked on at temps generally at 375-400 degrees. Your exhaust will be exceeding those temps. The coating will burn off of the head pipe and a real good chance of it not lasting on the muffler. The best bet is ceramic coating.
