Jesus is believed to answer to those in need (the hurt, the poor, the oppressed, et cetera.) At the time Jesus came to the Holy Land, it was oppressed by the Romans and corrupted with Rabbis who embezzled money and collaborated with the Romans. At that time (and I feel this time as well) the Holy Land was the worst place to be, the place that needed freedom the most. And while Jesus did not free His people from such things, he brought the spiritual guidance and support, so they could be able to do it themselves. And even in oppression, be able to find solace in the thought that God was watching over and protecting them.
