If other people say that they want someone to be genuine and honest and then they are why don't they like then

when they say they want someone to be genuine and honest, i think they often mean they want to feel they are genuine and honest, and dont act fake or lie, they dont mean they want to hear all the honesty a person might offer,,,,,, they also want the person to be kind and considerate and respectful to them, and sometimes you cant do that and be totally honest
so it does get kind of tricky
for instance, you shouldnt lie and give someone hope that you care about them, yet at the same time you shouldnt be honest and say you dont care at all,
you dont need to lie and tell someone you think they made a good decision, nor honestly tell them you think they made the most stupid decision you ever heard of ,
often, just being supportive and caring of a person and their feelings, without acting other then as yourself, can help
