Well, quite simply you were wrong. Racism works both ways, ethnics is not a particularly complimentary term, and why do you want to make derogatory remarks about people anyway?
Blacks and Asians who make derogatory remarks about whites are just as racist as the other way round, and despite what you think, they have no impunity in this sort of thing.
Having said that, it is ridiculous that you receive a violation for asking this question. Perhaps it's time that the violation system was overhauled and violations only issued where personal details about someone are posted, crime is incited or potentially libellous material is posted. Your question was stupid, but that shouldn't merit a violation.

I’d value your statement if it hadn’t appeared to have come straight from tabloid trash.
Do you realise the definition of ‘ethnic’ doesn’t mean ‘not-white’? Ethnicity (Ethnic group) is a collection of people with identifiable cultural, linguistic, religious or traditional traits.
White people are an ethnic group, in terms of politics they are an ‘ethnic majority’ least in the UK (Since this is the UK section).
However it does seem a racist comment from a white person receives harsher criticism from a non-white person in 'real-life'. Though if you’re being abusive to someone based on colour then whatever colour you are, people with a brain in their head will take you for exactly what you are; an idiot.
I find it interesting to note the in particular black Africans blame the white people for slavery, when a little unknown fact is black African raiders use to frequent the south coast of England kidnapping white people and forcing them into slavery. One particular race has never just been oppressed, each and every race could hold grudges against another, then we would get no where.
We’re here, we’re now. Judge us by what we do now.

It seems that's the way it is , When they ( the powers to be ) looked into the matter , they put down rules as to what is racist behavour ,
Sadly they only looked at us ( white's ) agaist ethnics and not the other way around
But then again they need to start living in the same world as we do

I can only imagine it's because the white anglo-saxon should know better. If that were the case it would be racist in assuming the WAS has evolved to a superior intellect which is a bit of a Catch 22.

I read this in my local paper recently, it was a letter from a black woman, presumably a christian, I cannot quote all of it but it went something like this.
"Jesus wasn't white with blue eyes and blonde hair, as in all the pictures and such like and you whites should stop telling us so."
That maybe the case, but what got me was not the religious content, but YOU whites, im not religious but somehow i thought if i wrote that and put you blacks there would have been an almighty stink. I'm not a racist or responsible for the slave trade and the ills of ethnic people in this country and im fed up with being blamed for things that have nothing to do with me.

It is a double standard, however, neither should be making any derogatory remarks. I'm sorry you got a violation for that though.

Folks really need a history lesson.
1. There were black slave owners
2. There were black slave traders
3. Most white people were too poor to own slaves
4. Most white people were too poor to enter the slave trade
5. A lot of white people died to end slavery
Unless you are Nordic all of us were oppressed by some ethnic group at some point in our history. Let it go and move on to bigger and better things.

True story:
My friend was on his way into college walking alongside a teacher. A black man walked past him and said "alright white boy?" My friend replied with "not too bad black man."
Black man was left to go to class. My friend was suspended!
If we want to get rid of racism we need to get rid of some of the laws that magnify our differences. We are ALL equal and no law should favour the other. Gang related racist attacks and extremist groups are a different matter.
