Is it just angry people labelling someone who voices their opinion because they disagree??

Isn't freedom of speech inclusive of opinions?

In practice, a bigot is someone intolerant of another's position or biased against some kind of demographic. Underscoring the idea of bigotry is a particular irrational behavior- they can't produce strong reasons why they hold their opinions, all they know is they are against fill-in-the-blank.
I'll agree, the word (along with 'racist') is thrown around way too casually but there is such a thing as social mores and, contrary to the staid arguments otherwise, the words you use *do* matter. One of the unwritten rules of America is if someone tries to push you around, push back. It virtually guarantees the trashmouths an audience. And so we incessantly fight with ourselves.
