I am not condoning excessive use of alcohol or any use of marijuana.

Alcohol and marijuana are both physiological depressants (although alcohol is commonly thought of as a stimulant).
Excessive alchol can increase the risk of suicidal tendencies.
4% of people who try alcohol become addicted as oppose to 10% of those who try marijuana. Marijuana can also trigger a pschizophrenic episode if you are predisposed

Honestly, if you have predisposing mental illness, I would stick to the alcohol (if you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO have one). But seriously, moderation is key.

Oh gosh, this is going to start a terrible flood of bad answers.

The short answer is "Maybe." Everyone knows of the dangers of alcohol use, thank you MADD, as well as the health risks of smoking, thank you TRUTH.

However, a closer look at the active ingredients, ethanol and tetrahydrocannabinoid (respectively), yields results from experiments that show both positives and negatives (note though: though the LD50 for ethanol is about 7 times that of THC, it is nearly impossible to get that much THC into the blood stream).

I think the best solution (and this totally doesn't answer your question, but I believe is a good answer anyway), is that, just as with all things, moderation is key, and they both could be dangerous in high amounts.

Let the flood of "OMgzz NO ur RWONG WEed is BAaaad" begin.

It all depends on the organism of the person that consumes any of them and the personality, mental habits, tendencies, etc. but both have about the same mental process. Let me try to explain it. Why a person feels in need to try any of them? Could be if you are young, the wish to know what do yo feel. It also could be that you want to feel better. And you will feel better if you are ready to pay the price. And what is the price? After it produces a moment of happiness of let say an hour, you will pay the price getting 12 or 24 hours of depression. If you consume any of them several times, you create a great need of that substance and furthermore the next times, you will need increasingly more, to get the same result and it will keep growing and the sensibility of your body will decrease, and will demand more drug. Besides both kills many cells of the brain. Then, you became without noticing, an addict. I sugest you to ponder about it.

Here's my thoughts on the subject:

1) How many people who are high on marijuana get belligerent? How about drunk on beer?

2) When most people smoke, all they do is sit and eat and laugh. When most people drink, they get loud and rowdy not to mention the whole puking thing.

3) Ever hear of medical alcohol???

4) How about "high driving" compared to "drunk driving"?

5) Lungs or liver...I guess that's a personal choice.

6) Marijuana may slow you down, but you sure are happy about it.

I have used both, never been hooked on either, but smoked a whole buttload more than I drank. Oh, and I quit many times without one problem. This is only me, but I do know several people who have quit with no problems as well.

Good luck!
;)

It is safer to drive under the influence of, almost certainly. It doesn't have the problem of destroying the liver with abuse. It is not as potentially physiologically addictive. It doesn't lower your inhibitions to the extent that you do dangerous stuff.

If there were a cop in the room, I think I would feel safer with a beer than a joint.

Both are hazardous & dengerous to health.
Regular smoker had significant less seminal fluid and lower sperm count. That is proven scientifically. Marijuana contains several chemicals, including THC. And it is believed that THC may disrupt the way the sperm swim.

Yes, vastly safer.

A lethal dose of alcohol is only 3 or 4 times as large as the typical dose.

A lethal dose of marijuana is more like 10,000 times as large as the typical dose. It would be impossible to eat or smoke marijuana fast enough to kill yourself from THC poisoning.

in one way marijuana is safer, it's almost impossible to die from overdose on marijuana. not so for alcohol. but really you would have to specify what you mean by 'safe'.
