All you need to do is drop the parentheses. So you get:
x-2+x+2
Notice the -2 +2 brings you back to zero, so you can get rid of that which leaves you with
x + x
which equals 2x
Think of the x's as being something more tangible like
1 apple + 1 apple = 2 apples
Or if you like money... make them the x's dollars
$1 + $1 = $2

(x-2) + (x+2)
Find the like terms
x plus x = 2x
-2 plus 2= 0
The correct answer is 2x.
The rule of adding algebraic expression is that you should only add like terms. Then proceed to addition. Okay!

Get rid of parenthesis
=x-2+x+2
Combine like terms
=x-2+x+2
=x+x-2+2
=x+x
=2x

(x-2)+(x+2)
=(x-2)+x+2 ..............as +(x+2)=+x+2
=x-2+x+2
=x+x-2+2
=x+x
=2x
if you mistyped the question, actually what you want to ask is
(x-2)(x+2),................ then answer would be
=x*x + 2x - 2x -4
=x^2-4
so when somebody asking for factoring
"X^2-4", answer is (x-2)(x+2)
too long winded ? !! yes, i am (:
