I was going to get a lot of rainbowfish for my new 58 gallon (3 foot) tank, but after looking at the prices of the rainbows, I've decided to cut down on them a little so I need ideas for other, fairly cheap (like $5 and lower-around $3 per fish being the best price) fish I could put into my tank. Here is what I have so far:
5 Peppered Cories
8 Flame Tetras
2 Blue Rams
2 Apistos (not sure which ones...but they're just the assorted ones on liveaquaria).
So...any ideas? I don't really have anything in mind...I'm open to pretty much everything, except I'd prefer to have something that's not in one of my other tanks (but I can make exceptions), inexpensive, fairly hardy, compatible with the above fish, and available in either my LFS or liveaquaria.com. I have a jewel cichlid, swordtails, guppies, harlequin rasboras, male and female bettas, bloodfins, white clouds, dwarf gourami, zebra danios, and pristella tetras.
I need as many ideas as possible and all the help I can get!!! Thanks!

Kuhli loaches are too much like yoyo loaches...and they probably get cranky with old age too. Yoyo loaches aren't appropriate for the community aquarium I'm planning, so I'd assume Kuhli loaches aren't either. Thanks though! :)

Also...I mentioned that I am not purchasing rainbows, as they are too expensive for my budget at the moment. I also forgot to mention that for some reason, the only fish I seem to kill easily are neons/cardinals, so those are also out. Angelfish are not a good idea, since I already have two pairs of cichlids (which will get along fine with enough caves--I'm putting 15 in) in the tank already.

I think I confused some people--the other fish that I listed off are in different tanks--for instance, the jewel cichlid is in a 10 gallon by himself and all the others are in random tanks, from 10 gallons, to a 15, to a 20L to a 29. Also, Madagascar rainbows are too expensive for me (I can't pay more than $5 per fish...I'd rather be around $3).

I had never even heard of peacock gudgeons, but I did a little Googling, and I can't find a price--but they were selling a 6" one online (auction) and the final price was $40...that's a little (lot!) out of my price range...I would like fish around $1-$5 please!
