Question about spades scoring.?

Ok so if one partner bids say... 4 and the other bids 3... lets say one makes his 4 and the other dosent make his three would the team gain 40 and lose 30 or would they lose 70?

if you make all 7 then you get the points, if you just make 4 you lose the points. for every extra book you get 1 more point, but also 1 bag. once you reach 10 bags you lose 100 points.

Lose 70. The 'team' did not back 'their' bid.
