I'm actually surprised you're getting so much negative feedback, but perhaps that's because I tend toward a sort of "alternative" crowd of friends.
I'm contemplating the same (and I'm a guy), and all i can say is, to the right woman it would be sexy. As for the people who find it disgusting, perhaps that just means that our tastes are different and incompatible.
It's a platitude to say "be yourself" and "don't care what others think." You asked the question so you obviously do care what others think. They've spoken pretty resoundingly against it. On the other hand, the minority who do like the idea is probably pretty substantial. This item has gotten 6 "cheers" on my 43things list so apparently there are at least six people who aren't totally disgusted by it. :)

Well I HATE it on women. It's unattractive in my opinion. Women's nipples are for breastfeeding, and when you damage those... it's like kicking mother nature right in the booty. But on guys -- depends on how they look. if they're kind of overweight, ew. actually when i think about it (ONE OF) my dream guys has no shirt on, a nice body, long dark brown hair, some facial hair, a tattoo around his middle area, and both his nipples pierced. lol that's hot!! :)

One nip is fine....both is too much, personally. But professionally, I do warn you: women's nipples are sensitive, yes...but I've seen men pass out more frequently in my chair when I'm done piercing them. I actually make it in my contracts for them to have a bottle of water handy during the session or else no go. Men's nips are more sensitive to pain than women's are.

I had my nipples pierced, and I had to take so much care when getting it on that it ended up being unsexy. I couldn't nail anyone with as much "vigor" as I'd like.

My friend had it done and his nipple grew.
It was really weird. Like one nipple was normal sized. And the other (the one with the piercing was like 3x that) it was just really...... gah.. no.
Plus can you imagine getting down to it and it being ripped out!? Ahhh .. NO.

first:
its not worth the pain, if you have ever gotten your ears peirced it hurts atleast 10 times more. its not worth it.
second:
most women dont think nipple peircings are sexy.
