Towards the end of The Deathly Hallows, it seemed to me like Lucius Malfoy really only remained loyal to Voldy for the sake of keeping his family safe. Do you agree?

Yes- his cruelty and hatefulness finally became apparent to all, even ones like Bellatrix. I think many of them thought his program for the purebloods sounded like a right thing to do... they became corrupted.. but the ones with any connection or feeling all turned against him in the end, at most complying to protect family.

Well, yeah. He'd lost his position of honored lackey and was reduced and humiliated and his family threatened. What reason did he have to stay loyal to Voldy? He may be an arrogant jerk but he's still human.
