All the time. I live in a very diverse city and you have to have patience with all the different languages. Most of the time if you have patience you can communicate what you want well enough to be satisfied. I think it is kinda cool to live in such a diverse place.

Sort of. I was in a hispanic part of Dallas, and went into a bakery for pastry. The hispanic chick acted like she didn't understand English, but I can speak a little Spanish so I could ask my question in broken spanish. But I think she actually could speak and understand English very well. She just didn't want me to be in her store because, as I said, it was in a hispanic area.

I just wish we could all just "get along". Peace.

Yes, and it can be frustrating. I try to think that it must take a lot of guts for them to try to make a living in a land where they don't speak the language well. It also says something about how hard it is to get help in the service industry.

Yes i think we all have. But also what about the people who don't speak english and can't get help to buy what they want... same thing i suppose.

But if you can't understand just go somewhere else as there is usually someone else selling the same thing elsewhere, their loss.

I don't think so...there's a sushi place by my house, which can cause some problems as the people working there are not native English speakers, but it's nothing too terribly annoying.

Yes, of course. But language is not the only communication barrier there is. I have had problems with people that are native English speakers.

Yes. i personally find it very frustrating. In any other country, immigrants are expected to learn to speak the native language. i don't understand why that is not the case in America.

No, i am not prejudice. Just for the record. This situation is about manners. It is rude to come into someone's home and expect them to adapt themselves to you. And yet, that has become the "norm" in America.

Makes no sense.

For those of you who get upset at those who are trying to earn an honest living, where did your ancestors come from? And shouldn't you be more worried about the criminals who DO speak English?
