The democrats are literally invested in defeat. They have opposed this war every way possible and obstructed operations in every other way possible. Their very credibility is on the line in Iraq - and they cannot recover from any type of United States victory regardless of how they try and spin it.

The media has been their ally throughout this anti-war campaign and they, too, will not shoot themselves in the foot.

Already they are emphasizing the alleged increase in civilian deaths as an indication that the surge is failing - perhaps they might want to mention that these deaths are far more commonly caused by Iraqis killing Iraqis and have little to do with American troops - nah.....they don't want to print that.

the country is segregated by skill of religion. The political modifications that grew to become into the stated purpose of the surge has not been performed. Violence is down, yet particularly because of fact of religious separation of the country. specialists say that lots of the develop has been because of fact the U. S. is finally sending money in for artwork initiatives and that i assume we've Democratic pressures for that. actual, because of fact the White living house in simple terms replaced techniques below tension from Democrats, i assume we are able to thank the Democrats for any fulfillment in Iraq. The president's plans failed because of incompetence, yet he's claiming that the hot plan that he grew to become into forced into will artwork, at last. there is reason for some wish, yet i think of that the biggest indication as to the way the administration thinks Iraq will pass is the actuality that Bush has pushed the project off onto his successor, the two Clinton or Obama. Bush of course thinks that there isn't any answer and is calling for somebody to take the blame for his failure.

If the media isn't reporting it, where did you hear the surge is working?

The media is controlled by the gov't so any complaints you have about what they report seem to be off base except for misleading the people.

What surge? Working- How? Fewer Americans died but more ordinary Iraqui people were killed, and there is more deaths in Afghanistan and Pakistan than ever. I can safely guess they don't matter much to you. Go, take a fix, watch Fox for an hour. That is media, too.

Define "working." If by "working" you mean "putting more American soldiers in harm's way", then yes it's working. If by "working" you mean "costing the American people billions of dollars every day", then yes it's working. If by "working" you mean "creating more terrorists by accidentally killing innocent Iraqi men, women and children," then yes it's working. If by "working" you mean "allowing defense contractors and oil companies to get richer," then yes it's working. The Iraq War is a disaster and the Bush Administration is to blame. The surge is NOT working. Support Our Troops! BRING 'EM HOME NOW!!!

Interesting op-ed piece, but I didn't see a reference to a single source for the position the author was putting forth. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but opinion isn't the same thing as fact.

LOL. The media is pro-war, dummy. The media is owned by corporations that support the war! Worse yet, the media is run by zionists, who love the idea of the US being in Iraq. There is no such thing as liberal and conservative in office. Think All Star Wrestling. Only the dumb audience believes there's a difference. Yes. This is how the elite view your intelligence.

The article plainly states that it is the local Sheiks that are calming Anbar. These "Sheiks" lead the Sunni Death Squads that were also killing US soldiers. What a strategy....

Not one source in this piece of trash.

I thought we were supposed to wait for Petraeus to tell us in September?

You've been dipping into the Hannity O'Reilly pot again, haven't you?

Danger, Will Robinson....Danger!..
