Just found out about a few recalls on my vehicle I never knew of, and would like to know if it's ok to take it in to the dealership I bought it from, without hassle?

1998 Cavalier has "8" different recall, in which I wasn't informed of any. Having problems, and noticed that 3 of the recalls are problems I have. I don't see an expiration date on the recalls, so I assume I can take it in?

It depends on the type of recall. If it a safety issue that was mandated by the government to be repaired at no cost to the consumer, the dealership must do the repair. If it is a component of the "emissions control system" it may only be repaired if the vehicle has less than 50K miles on it. Some recalls from the manufacturer are only valid to the original owner of the car, and there may be mileage or time restrictions for them to remain in force. Your best bet would be to call the service department of the dealership, and ask if your car is covered in the recall. If it is, they will gladly do the repairs. They are paid to do the repairs by the manufacturer, so they lose nothing in time or money by not charging you for the repair.

Look in the phonebook under General Motors and call the Chevrolet div. phone# Have your vehicle Identification # location the driver's side that is on top of the dash board handy and they can tell ya what ya need to know about the recalls and which dealership is located closest to you. Sorry about the recalls as we take pride in our quality. I bet it was a Chinese or Mexican made componant

try to do a little more research on the recalled parts, it is tough to tell whether or not it is still able to be sent in or not because some recalls have expirations
