Hahahahhhahahah...Only americans think this. Europeans think they are like movie stars only more traditional and accomplished and sexy. I know male dancers to be pretty dern horny all around, but mostly they are stright.

I am a practicing danseur (since 1980) and I would have to say I'm straight! ( After this many years, I think I would know!) Gay male ballet dancers do exist and over the years, I have worked with my share of them. However, for every one of them, I have also worked with at least 1-2 that were straight. I would dare to say that most (if not all) of the gay dancers I have worked with, would have wound up that way whether or not they had ever set foot in a ballet class!

RE:
Are most male Ballet dancers GAY?
Still to this day most people mainly in America still feel
that male ballet dancers are Gay? why is this?..is
this a stereotype that will never go away, or because
most people are Homophobic, and condemn any male
who displays graceful movements, that they link to
feminine characteristics or...

That used to be the case, but now ballet is seen as a very demanding physical activity and is attracting a lot more straight men. It does not carry the stereotype it used to because of this.
And even in past, most people who appreciated the art form of ballet didn't even think of whether the male dancers were gay or straight. They just appreciated the performance.
Your declaration that most people think that these dancers are gay and that it's because of homophobia has little basis in fact.
Ballet is a particular art form that draws a particular audience which doesn't see orientation on the stage.

If a male straight wants to take ballet he should go right ahead because ballet is the foundation of all dance. Patrick Swayze was trained in classical ballet, he's straight, and Barishnakoff (sp?) was not gay. I guess ballet has women mostly so people think it's a girl thing.

My brother used to dance from when he was 3-10 then 15-17 and he is NOT gay. Atleast as far as I know. I will admit I have meet about two male dancers who are gay, but you know what? That's out of about atleast 8 or 9!!!
This is a really dumb stereotype, I agree with that. I wish it would go away and I can't really see that there is much reasoning for it.

My sister and I have danced for over a decade.
Most of the male ballerinas I know/have met are gay. This is not homophobia or a generalization, it's just how it's been of the people I know... and I know a lot of dancers. I don't think it's an issue, but I do see how it became a stereotype.

My wife has taught Ballet for forty years. She says that every male that she was involved with was gay.
