No! This is still America, and we should not be convivted, until a jury of our peers says we are guilty.

Depends on your job, your contract with your employer, and your crime. If a bank teller is charged with identity theft, they should probably be suspended. If a teacher is charged with child endangerment, maybe they shouldn't be in the classroom. If your contract has a personal conduct clause (as Vick's does), maybe you should get a break.
I will have to point out that Michael Vick does not need to be convicted of a felony to have violated the NFL's Personal Conduct policy. The new commissioner has made it very clear that he will interpret this policy very strictly. I would not be surprised to see Vick suspended for the season. The NFL would be well within its legal rights to do this.

other people aren't.
But, this is in Vick's contract. He has to keep his appearances clean.
Nike or someone suspended a Vick shoe. Should Nike blow millions of dollars on a shoe that isn't going to sell? Should the NFL buy air time for the Falcons if no one watches?
Should Pepsi and Coke and Microsoft and Budweiser pay for air time for those Falcons games that no one will watch?
Kris is right. Suspension with pay is fair for everyone else.

Let me caveot this by saying that I am NOT a football fan. In fact I'd never even heard of Vick before this mess. [Actually, I rember his name from about a year ago, but I think it was related to a similar issue]
It's important to understand that, because I want it understood that I am not saying this as a fan of his, or a fan of his team or even a football fan.
I think that it's a good idea for his team and/or th NFL to let's say put him on hold for awhile. Remember, we're essentially dealing with a private business anyway. They can make their guys sign contracts that say things like "If you wear white after Labor Day, you'll be fired"
I will say that he needs to be tried first. Then if and only if he's found guilty do we put him away.
But, if he's found innocent, then I'd have no problem with him being employed again.

Not in most cases, some professions have "conduct clauses" this is the case with the NFL - most of these state that any conduct that may bring undue scrutiny to the Organzization / company is not allowed, this may have included having contact with undesireables ( if it turns out that his relatives did it ) he still had contact with them.......
he signed it when he signed with the Falcons --- which just shows how good his word is
but if convicted of a felony they:
Spend time in JAIL USUALLY
they lose their voting privledges
meet "new friends"
I think they should just put him in a cage with about two of those dogs and rub raw meat on him first.

Depends on the job. I am sure Vick has a morals clause as do most celebrities. If he did and is possibly violating his contract he should be suspended. Same for anyone else who has such a contractual provision.

They should be sentenced to jail for 20 years, that'll teach 'em.
We don't need people on the streets like M. Vick, they're a danger to society!!

well if they are charged with a felony I dont think they would be going to work any time soon considering they would be in jail so the boss would have no problems firing them.

Well, if you're charged, you should be suspended with pay at your employer's discretion. If you're convicted on they other hand, you really can't go to work for a few years, can you?
