I hate being referred to as "ma'am". i've got self assurance like a fat previous lady in a leopard fur hat. Even interior the customer provider industry i do no longer like it. when I labored in retail in college, I by no skill referred to as all people sir or maam, and there became into no project. in spite of the shown fact that, whilst my co-workers addressed persons that way, most of the purchasers actual have been given offended. So it does not seem to help lots. that's a risk to be courteous and respectful without calling human beings "sir" and "maam" like they're your grasp or protection tension seargant. i'm from California nevertheless, so it can be a close-by element.

I'm not a fan of being called ma'am. But it beats being called other things.

It doesn't bother me. I think it's more prevalent in the south, it's just good ol manners. My husband says yes and no ma'am, and I'm 25.

I live in the South and it has become normal to me, but it took getting used to at first. At times I even demand it from my students.

lol, I AM old ... but they don't do it out of respect, they just do it because they're told to, by their bosses or whatever; sometimes parents train their kids that way, but not much around here.
