Ugh. This is a difficult question. Lies that make you feel good are just that...lies. So they don't mean anything. And you're bound to find the truth out sooner or later, and the fact that you were lied to will just make the truth hurt worse.
So in the end, I suppose I would rather be told the truth that hurts.

Out of context, it is a difficult question to answer. In general the truth is always the best path. However, there are times when the truth serves no purpose and a lie eases the way for others. Knowing when is obviously the difficult part. How the truth is stated is also a part of decision making. Telling the truth, but doing so with a good “bedside manner” can be as important as telling the truth.
