I like to glance at people's profiles if I'm gonna answer
when it means something to me.

Having briefed on yours, bear with me for just a sec.

Though I'm given to humor and a sympathizer beyond
my own cerebral approval (didn't choose my weak
heart, it just developed), I appreciate the straight-
shooter no-nonsense as you describe because
I think there's purpose to most things.

Reading means a lot to me, and I'm as diverse as
any I've met.

To answer, I must include the Holy Bible, but with
an asterisk. It's all there, if one should bother to
read it AND see what's there and the potential
for humans to see what we have and have been
given.

But since that's such a thing for people and
their malicious "controversy," let me toss this out:

"The Noonday Demon," by Andrew Solomon.

< Talk about tackling a truly ugly and debilitating
subject! AND being able to write about it in such
a comprehensive way. AND remain hopeful and
insistent that people can rebound from adversity.

It's Nonfiction, and if you're into reading about
the real thing we call Life, give Andrew Solomon
a study.

Happy August, just days away...

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger. It's a fiction/drama book. I also like The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende which is kind of a fantasy/romance/family drama/violent book.

"Watchers" by Dean Koontz

kind of a mix between sci-fi, romance and drama...a bit of horror, I've read it twice, and enjoyed as much as before.

"A Darker Justice" by Sallie Bissell

Government Conspiracy, sort of romance, much drama.

very good read.

and last but not least: "Dark Rivers of the Heart" also by Dean Koontz.

also a Government Conspiracy, nice twists, of course as expected of Dean Koontz, a lot of drama.

none of these are in any hierarchy or rank, all three are very good books that I have enjoyed.

Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, fiction/fantasy.
Also The Outsiders. I don't know the author, but it's mainly fiction (based off of the author's true life, though).
And last, Nothing But The Truth. It's mainly for teens. It's by Avi.
